JPS on line again

I feel like I am spending all my time launching websites at the moment. Between our publishing arm Black House Comics (site launched in December), our on line book store BlackBoox.net (site launched in February) and now the new site for Jeffries Printing it's been a lot of miles clocked on the laptop.

The aims of this site are

  1. to provide our clients with a professional web portal to our business;
  2. to provide new and potential clients with an easy way to get to know us;
  3. to have some fun.

So many Australian printing companies use their web sites as either simple portals to their online ordering system or a way to brag to their mates about how big their press is.

Our clients don't care how we print or what we do it on, so long as it's done on time, done well and done to their budget. And yes, while you can (or soon will be able to) log in to your exclusive ordering system with online quotes and personalisation of print material, I'd like our site to be a bit of fun too.

Like the video posted on the front page. I found this at the site of these really cool letterpress printers in Canberra, Poppy Letterpress. It's a link from an American printing company celebrating the skill and simple pleasure of printing using a very old method. Great stuff and shows a bit of the  personality of the people behind the business, both Poppy and Repeat Printing who did the video.

Hopefully the site will have a lot of this sort of thing and hopefully I won't be pinching it all from other printers!

And time permitting I'll keep writing here about stuff going on in print in Sydney, Australia and the world. It's an interesting time to be in printing. Our industry is used to technological revolutions, from moving type itself to the change from letterpress to offset in the sixties to the digital challenge currently sweeping through print companies.

Anyway that's the plan! We are busily setting up the backend of this site and each of our clients should be receiving the keys to their very own online ordering system in the next month or so.

Til later,
